Our mission

The mission of the Fédération québécoise de tir (FQT) is to develop and promote safe sport shooting in Quebec.

We support all activities such as firearm initiation, recreational shooting, competitions and the level of excellence, and this, for all types of firearms.

The FQT was started and incorporated in 1974 as a non-profit organization at the specific request of the Quebec Government. The objective was to bring together the Olympic categories of pistol, rifle and
trap shooting so that the Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport (MELS) had only
one authorized representative.

Throughout the years, other, non-Olympic categories have joined the Fédération
to benefit from the technical support that is offered and to facilitate certain
discussions with government authorities and the Chief Firearms Office. In
accordance with the last mandates granted to the FQT by the government,
it focuses on promoting, coordinating and developing training for Bill 9
and the CRFSC to make shooting safe while respecting provincial
and federal laws and regulations.

Safe shooting is promoted through concerted and coordinated efforts
in the interests of Quebec's local and regional associations.

Our objective is to improve the application of
sport shooters' privileges within the laws and
regulations of the Province of Quebec.

"Our sport distinguishes itself by applying intellectual
and physical efforts on a single objective."
